Bereavement Workshop

Grief is a painful, unique and often lonely process especially when we live in a culture that makes it difficult not only to talk about death and loss but  to find ways to live through it.  Twice a year we offer a 7-week program: Journeying from Grief to Healing. This is a structured supportive program that provides a unique opportunity to journey with others through readings, discussion and personal journaling from “grief to healing”. Sharing your thoughts, feelings and experiences with others in similar situations and in a safe environment can help you find inspiration, understanding and encouragement.

This program is usually held in Fall (Oct/Nov) in the evenings, mid-winter (Feb/ March) during the day and spring time (April/May) in the evening. For more information email Marie Martin or call Julie at 660-2700.

Bereavement programs are also offered through Caritas Norwood Hospital. Good Samaritan Hospice, and the Massachusetts End of Life Care Commission provides a helpful website.

Funerals - what should we know ahead of time?

The Parish Health Ministry is offering its second night in a spring series on Thursday evening, April 15 from 7 - 8:30 PM in the Community Room.  We will continue the discussion around what to expect from the funeral home and from the parish when there is a death in the family.  Please bring your questions and concerns.  There will be a presentation by our bereavement minister, Marie Martin on this second night.  Having discussions with those we love when we are healthy can help those we love to know our wishes about the end of our life.
